You may eliminate unnecessary programs on startup and reconfigure a few settings in your computer's registry to increase your computer's startup and shutdown speed.
To increase your computer’s startup and shutdown speed, follow these steps:
Delete programs that run at startup
1. Open My Computer from your desktop or Start menu.

2. Open C:\Documents and Settings\username\Start Menu\Programs\Startup, where username is your Windows logon name.
3. Delete the shortcuts of any programs you don't want to run during start-up. Deleting a shortcut does not remove the program itself.
