Windows Vista: Adobe Flash Player fix

Is your flash player not working on many sites including YouTube, etc.? Well, there's a fix for Windows Vista users who may have been looking for. Try these steps:

  1. Go to Computer > C: Drive > Windows > System32 > Macromed > Flash
  2. Right-click on Flash9b.ocx, then select Properties.
  3. Click the Security tab. Click Everyone on or your own Windows account profile in the group or user names box, click edit, then tick the Allow Full control. Select your own Windows local account name to have full control.

Repeat this process for the file FlashUtil9b.exe.

  1. Go to Computer > C: Drive > Windows > System32 > Macromed > Flash
  2. Right-click on FlashUtil9b.exe.
  3. Click the Security tab. Click Everyone on or your own Windows account profile in the group or user names box, click edit, then tick the Allow Full control. Select your own Windows local account name to have full control.
  4. Once you have done this for both files, double-click FlashUtil9b.exe to run the file and it should install and update
  5. Restart your computer when prompted.

YouTube and other video sites that use Flash should now work.

Note: If you have files with different file names (i.e. FlashUtil9f.exe or FlashUtil9c.exe) – the same practice still applies as shown above.
